With kids, I find myself constantly cleaning. I’m pretty sure I could make a full-time job out of following my little ones around, picking up after them and cleaning up spills and crumbs. Thankfully, we make all of our own cleaners, so we always have lots of cleaning products around. I also find it cuts back on the cost, big-time. And, one of the main reasons we started doing it, is to support our greener lifestyle.
Homemade cleaners are actually really simple to make and will help you save money. This super easy DIY natural all-purpose cleaner is completely safe and free of toxins, good for almost any surface in the home, and is a fraction of the price it cost for a store-bought cleaner. With just a few simple ingredients, you can customize the smell of this cleaner and use it anywhere in the home.
DIY Natural All-Purpose Cleaner
- 1 clean spray bottle (I buy mine at the dollar store, or you can recycle one you already have by just cleaning it out well ahead of time)
- 2 cups of water
- 2 cups of white vinegar
- 10-15 drops of tea tree essential oil
- 5-10 drops of lavender essential oil*
*you can use different oils if you prefer. I also like to use lemon or orange essential oil, but love tea tree for its anti-bacterial properties and lavender for its relaxing smell.
- Add water, vinegar and essential oils together in the spray bottle and give a good shake to mix it up well. That’s it, you’re done! You can use this pretty much anywhere in the home, except on granite. If you’re dealing with stubborn mold or mildew, double the amount of vinegar.
